This bar has a really nice atmosphere after you get over the fact that it's in the crypt of a church! It has plenty of comfortable sofas, not that you will be using them after you hear the music...a good mix of funky house, garage, rnb and bashment. The bar is in the stlye of a morrocan cave, and is very laid back. They serve some lovely Thai bar snacks and the drinks are often on promotions like 2 for 1, so it's a money saver too! Babalou, when compared to other bars and clubs in Brixton, could be described as calm. So if your looking for a good, cheap night out head here.
Located in the crypt of St. Matthews Church, Babalou nestles up nice and close to an old timer on the south London clubbing scene, Mass. Serving a slightly more chilled affair than its neighbour, this venue offers up all the essentials for a relaxed evening out south side of the river. Expect saggy sofas, Moroccan style furnishings, signature cocktails and tasty Thai bar snacks. There’s 2-4-1 drinks promotions and a regular rota of DJ nights.
I love this venue. It looks great inside and there are so many different things going on all the time.The food is the best Thai snacks I've ever eaten out in London.. Also the only place that i know that does good 241 drinks!

A very well presented bar with lots of niceties, such as their indelible cocktails and nice selections of wine. There is always something going on at Babalou, so if it�s only a drink you want that is very unlikely to happen.
Prominent members of the Brixton community decided upon holding a street community event in Brixton, centred on Coldharbour Lane...
