The Clapham Grand

This is one of those weird but wonderful places. People just randomly turn up in fancy dress to boggie down to cheesy 80's and 90's music. The dancers hired to work here are atrocious. Men dancing in cages wearing only leather trousers and women wearing bras and fishnets...classy. The place also smells like sweat and vomit mixed, so not too pleasant as you can imagine. The drinks are cheap as you would expect but that doesn't make up for all of the above. Only go here if you are already drunk!

The White House

The White House is a really nice bar that stands out as being a cut above the rest in Clapham. The music is a good mix of pop, rnb and funky house. The drinks are really cheap and often on promotion, so watch out for that! Also the layout of the bar has changed, the sunken area has a great relaxed atmosphere; whereas the seated area near the bar is a bit more live. Everyone who parties here is just looking for a good time in a nice venue. I would definitely recommend The White House.

Lloyds No. 1 Bar

Now, don't get me wrong I am normally a fan of Lloyds, they do nice food, the drinks are cheap and the music is good. But this one in particular doesn't have the best staff in the world. I was going to a work get together here, and turned up a bit late just to be told by the door man that I couldn't come in. Only after a male work collegue inside the club approached him did he change his mind. When I finally entered the bar the volume of the music was so low it could barely be heard, and the bar staff were slow and unengaged. Overall I was disappointed.
